Atishi Marlena has taken charge as Delhi’s new Chief Minister, beginning a fresh phase in the capital’s political story.
She was born to Professor Bijay Kumar Singh and Tripta Wahi. A bright student since childhood, Atishi completed her schooling in Delhi.
Later, she earned a History (Honours) degree from St. Stephen’s College, one of the most reputed colleges under Delhi University.
In 2001, she was awarded a scholarship to Oxford University, where she pursued her Master’s in History.
After returning to India, she worked as an educator, teaching children in Andhra Pradesh and later completing another Master’s in Education Research from Oxford (2005–2006).
Beyond academics, she has been deeply connected with grassroots movements, including the Jal Satyagraha in Madhya Pradesh back in 2015.
Atishi entered politics in 2012 during the anti-corruption movement. Although she lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to Gautam Gambhir, she remained active in public service.
In 2020, she became the MLA from Kalkaji constituency under the Aam Aadmi Party. Today, she leads Delhi as its Chief Minister — a reflection of perseverance, education, and progressive leadership.
